We work with the finest Appalachian hardwoods. Our favorites are cherry and maple, as both are a pleasure to work with and are endowed with spectacular grains. When freshly cut, cherry is muted beige, but within a few months it ages into a rich cinnamon. Maple darkens only slightly from its original blond.
We finish our furniture with a matte catalyzed lacquer to keep it as tough as possible against the inevitable nicks, scratches and dents that are part of daily life. In our opinion, it brings out the best in the wood without altering its natural sheen or pigmentation.
